XTreme Work
XTreme Team: Enrico, Nicola, Betty, Luca & Cappuccino Kid - enjoying some panettone
Well here is the long awaited blog update about my job in Italy!
I work in Milan as a grafico (graphic designer) for a monthly car magazine called XTreme Tuning - basically I lay out the magazine, with Nicola, the head grafico, in a program called Adobe InDesign. We are a nice small friendly team. Enrico is the boss, Betty organises advertising, and Luca writes the articles. They have been really good to me and I am happy here. I am introducing English culture into the office - such as drinking cappuccino at any hour of the day, not just breakfast. I have shown them Top Gear too. I still haven't got a picture of the queen on the wall, but there is still time...
Every day I commute from Turin - a 2 hour train journey! I have plenty of time to read and study! Usually in the moring I sleep, listening to downloaded BBC radio shows on my iPod. Italian trains are not so comfortable and not very reliable either - but they are cheap.
I hope all my readers (both of you!) have a very happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
This year I will be in Italy over the Christmas break - no turkey, sprouts or Christmas pudding this year! I will miss the traditional food and most of all my wonderful family who are all together in Wales. However, I am sure my wife and her family will take really good care of me as they have done all year.

XTreme Tuning - The best magazine in Italy

I need help with my guitar. The E 6th string won't tune in properly. Also can you recommend any other alternative tuning arrangements? Apart from the standard E A D G B E tuning? Glad you are a tuning expert Mike. Look forward to your reply! Also my daughter is learning to play the violin, maybe I can get some tuning questions from her too?!
Course I can help tune your guitar. Didn't you know I had Van Gogh's ear for music!
I was in the pub yesterday, and I saw Vincent Van Gogh in the corner.
I called him over and asked him if he fancied a drink, to which he replied. 'No thanks, I've got one ear!'
You normally have sprouts for christmas?! Man, you english are weirder than I thought!
The only sprouts I recommend are 'Prefab Sprout'.
